Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh "Mayawati" banned screaning of film "AAJA NACHLE" in the state over an alleged derogatory insinuation to Dalits in a song.
The film which was released on friday marking the comeback of bollywood queen 'Madhuri Dixit was supposed to be a hit at the box office.
Mayawati also sent a letter to the Prime Minister urging him to ban the movie all over the country.
Principal secretary to the chief minister Shailesh Krishna told the media: "A song in the movie contained certain derogatory insinuations against a particular Dalit community, which was also in violation of the spirit of the Indian Constitution."
Confirming the enforcement of Government, Lucknow District Magistrate said:"we have ensured that the film wont be screened in any theatre".
